Practical Tips for Finding the Right Wedding Dress

Planning your wedding is probably one of the most exciting, and stressful, times of your life. You have to make many decisions before the day. However, the one that will cost you the most in sleepless nights is choosing the right wedding dress.

The first thing you need to know is wedding venues in Tunbridge Wells will set the tone of your wedding. The earlier you decide on that, the easier you can choose the dress that will look good in it. Here are some tips from The Barn Pub Rest & Restaurant to help you.

Think about your budget

Wedding dresses come in all shapes, forms, and prices. Before looking into the first two, decide on the third. If you know how much you can afford to spend on your dress, you can narrow your choices down to shops that carry dresses in your price range. Do not be shy about telling the bride fitter your budget. It will save time and effort if you stick to choosing among dresses you can actually afford.

Choose from a maximum of three shops

You probably already have a general idea of the kind of dress you want. Save time by choosing a maximum of three shops in which to dry bridal dresses that conform to the style of dress you prefer. Choose only three to try in each one, and take photos of each dress while you are in it. Compile your photos and compare them side by side before deciding on one you think looks perfect on you.

Less is more

Bring only one or two people when you go to a bridal shop. People have different ideas of what a wedding dress should be. You do not need half a dozen people expressing different opinions when you are trying on a dress. Bring someone you want to impress with the dress, like your mother or your best friend. That will make it easier to say yea or nay to a dress.

The wedding dress will probably carve a big chunk of your budget, so you should take time in making your choice. In the end, however, the most important this is that you feel beautiful in it. This can make any bride glow.

Lower Mortgages are NOT Offered, They’re Negotiated

Buying a home is always a huge financial commitment, whether it’s your first time or not. That’s why if you don’t have the upfront financials to pay in full, you should master how to shop for the correct mortgage loan.

According to The Mortgage Partner Inc, “The interest rate on your mortgage varies depending on the loan type, term, credit score, and income. Your interest rate will determine what your monthly mortgage payment will be; the lower the interest rate, the lower the monthly payment.”

But, as consumers, you should keep in mind that the “best” might not be good for you. In terms of finding mortgage loans, you need to look into the most applicable loan.

To know how to shop for mortgages that fit your needs, ask these questions:

Is the Mortgage Fixed or Adjustable?

Fixed and adjustable mortgages are the two structures of every loan plans. If you want consistent repayment terms, stick to fixed rates. However, if you have enough buffer finances to support the fluctuation of adjustable rates, get that because it typically has a lower introductory rate. The key is aligning your potential income to the variability of a fixed and an adjustable mortgage.

How Much is the Total Closing Cost?

One of the saddest stories of mortgage loans lies in the closing costs. Since most mortgage borrowers don’t specifically ask the total closing cost, which is usually 3% of the total property purchase price, some repayment becomes extended. So, it’s best to ask about the principal value so you can prepare adequately.

Am I Eligible for Any Special Programs?

Opportunities don’t always come knocking. Most of the time, especially when dealing with mortgages, you have to stand in front of the door and talk to the ones responsible for your future. Ask if you qualify for any special programs such as VA, FHA, USDA, or even programs for first-time homebuyers. A discount or two is always a positive thing.

Taking on a mortgage is challenging. But, given that you know how to ask the right questions, you can arrive at a mortgage arrangement that works for you.

Road Safety: Master Defensive Driving

Today, following traffic rules, maintaining proper road conduct, and driving safely are no longer enough for you to be safe on the road. With many aggressive, careless, preoccupied, or worse, intoxicated drivers behind the wheel, you're always at risk while driving.

One way to equip yourself against the dangers these negligent and irresponsible drivers pose is to use defensive driving techniques, according to Top Driver. Even with your busy schedule, you can still find the time that best suits you to learn these strategies with online driving courses. So what should you expect from your defensive driving lessons?

Defensive driving prevents accidents and saves life

The American National Standards through their Safe Practices for Motor Vehicle Operations defined defensive driving as “driving to save lives, time, and money, in spite of the conditions around you and the actions of others.” You can’t control the decision and actions of other people and try as you might to follow traffic rules and regulations, there are other people who just don’t think of the possible consequences of their actions, exposing everyone around them to danger. Defensive driving will actually help you avoid the ramifications of bad and reckless drivers. Thus, these techniques will improve your driving skills, make you alert to possible road hazards, and make your response time quicker, thereby preventing road accidents and mishaps.

Defensive driving makes you expect the unexpected

Defensive driving techniques will teach you to be always alert and ready whenever you are behind the wheel. These skills will be embedded into your basic driving skills and will become second nature to you before, during and after you start your car. These techniques are important for you to avoid and escape possible road hazards and threats caused by poor weather, bad roads, and reckless drivers. Planning your escape routes, staying alert and focused, looking out for danger signs, stress management, especially during rush hour traffic and emergencies, are just some of the things that you will learn during your online driving course.

It is not just them, it’s also about you

Defensive driving is not just about your reaction to bad drivers or poor driving conditions, it also makes you aware of your own bad habits that need eliminating. With recent improvements to your car’s interior such as cups holders, very loud speakers, television screens, and cell phone holders, you and other millions of drivers are all guilty of doing something else while driving. Whether you’re just drinking, eating, texting or taking a call, all these activities decrease your reaction time and take your eyes off the road, which is very dangerous even if it’s just for a few seconds.

Defensive driving is not just all about preventing and escaping accidents. It's making the roads that you are traveling every day safe for everyone, both for the motorist and pedestrians alike. So drive defensively and safely, it will save not just your life but also everyone around you.

Cerebral Palsy and Medical Malpractice

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common movement disabilities among children. Statistics show an increasing number of cerebral palsy cases over the past few years. Proper medical practice during pregnancy and childbirth play a crucial role in cerebral palsy prevention.

What is Cerebral Palsy?

Cerebral palsy is a chronic neurologic disease that refers to movement deficits due to impaired brain development. Different muscles of the body such as the upper and lower extremities may have limited motion due to irreversible brain damage. In some cases, posture, balance, sensation and coordination also substantially decline.

What Causes Cerebral Palsy?

Medical malpractice is one of the most common preventable causes of cerebral palsy. As early as the first week of pregnancy, your obstetrician must perform tests to determine the potential risk of developing the condition. Exposure to infectious agents must also be regulated by the birth specialist to ensure a safe course of pregnancy.

During labor, it is also the physician’s duty to reduce the extent of head trauma as the baby passes through the birth canal. Extreme force during childbirth may compress the fragile scalp that covers the brain. This will lead to a compressive force that decreases body motor function.

Most importantly, an obstetrician must oversee and treat possible complications during delivery. Asphyxia, which is defined as the absence of oxygen, is often caused by the negligence of the health professional. If unmanaged for prolonged periods, the child develops a higher risk of developing cerebral palsy.

What Should I Do if the Physician is Liable?

If a physician’s negligence caused your child’s cerebral palsy, you must find a lawyer to handle the cerebral palsy case and who will help you fight for your rights. The attorney will gather medical records and witnesses to strengthen a medical malpractice case. You can seek financial compensation for the chronic problems caused by his negligent acts.

Cerebral palsy is a long-term, costly condition that requires numerous medications, tests, and rehabilitative sessions. Thus, it is important to find an attorney for cerebral palsy who can help you get proper care for your child.

A Look at the Current Development of NASA’s Orion Spacecraft

With a successful solar array deployment test early this year, NASA is moving forward in testing the famous Orion spacecraft. The Orion Multipurpose Crew Vehicle has been under development for a few years now and is intended to transport a crew of four astronauts to destinations beyond Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Vibrating Test

The Orion spacecraft passed its first test last Dec 4, 2014. This test involved the use of a giant vibrating table in checking the overall safety of the spacecraft for the launch process. According to Qualmark Corporation, vibrating tests are used to test products for their ability to withstand a certain amount of vibration. The giant vibration table utilized for the Orion spacecraft employed four vertical and 16 horizontal actuators to replicate the massive shaking effects of launching.

In 2015, the Orion spacecraft also passed its second vibrating test, which involved vehicle attachment to its booster. After that test launch, the spacecraft passed four succeeding test flights.

Solar Array Test

After a series of vibrating tests and test flights, NASA moved on to conducting solar array tests. This test is used to check if the Orion spacecraft can handle having propulsion, power, air, and water inside of it. The test proved that every component in the vehicle was installed correctly and the array performs efficiently.

NASA planned to conduct the second solar array test at the end of this year. This second test will check if the solar array inside the Orion spacecraft can withstand the launch environment.

NASA explained that all the vibration tests and solar array tests only simulated launch conditions, not the space environment. They are planning to conduct vacuum simulation next year to test the Orion spacecraft’s capabilities in a flight-like setting.

There are still many steps to take but it looks like that the Orion is nailing every test. So, don’t be surprised if, in the next few years, you see the most-awaited launch of this spacecraft dominating the news.

Protect Your Home’s Exterior or Face the Risk of Water Damage

Water damage can negatively affect the property owner’s finances, especially when not addressed right away. Water damage can occur to any household as a result of rain, typhoon, storms and snow. High levels of water produced by the inclement weather can seep into the building’s exterior surfaces, particularly the walls. This is why waterproofing a building plays critical roles in maintaining its structural integrity and preventing costly water damage repairs.

Wall Waterproofing 101

The frame of external walls has many different internal parts, including columns, beams and slabs. In between these are spaces filled with masonry materials. Because of these characteristics, walls have the tendency to absorb water, starting the process of moisture seepage from the exterior into the interior. When plaster materials used in the walls crack, more moisture will enter.

Experienced builders know the importance of applying high-performance waterproofing materials on wall exteriors, such as aluminium copings, Contour explains. With waterproof coating in place, the lesser the risk of water seepage.

The Consequences of Leaving Surfaces Uncoated and Unprotected

Without proper coating or finishing, the ‘sweating’ of the walls provide the perfect environment for mould and mildew growth. Apart from their unattractive appearance, these can also affect your health and the well-being of your loved ones. In addition, they can eat away the organic construction materials of your property, leading to even more damage.

Waterproofing your home will protect it from all the external elements that have the potential of causing not only structural damage to your property but also health issues and unnecessary expenses. Rather than thinking that these protective coatings are just additional expenses, consider them as long-term investments.

Protect your property and keep your family safe by waterproofing your home.

Beating Criminal Charges Filed Against You

Suspecting or knowing that someone has filed a criminal charge against you for any reason is highly stressful. Some people panic and attempt to flee before the arrest warrant is served. Fleeing and going into hiding is actually the worst thing you can do if this happens, as evading arrest is a crime in itself, whether you're guilty or innocent of the initial charges, the Law Offices of Steven R. Adams explains.

What to Do

If you have any suspicion at all that someone would or has filed a case charging you of a crime, the first thing you should do is contact a Cincinnati criminal defense firm. Ask for a lawyer who has a lot of experience in dealing with similar cases. Your lawyer will advise you on what to do. If it's in your best interests, they may accompany you when you surrender yourself to the authorities. Surrendering even before the police come looking may reflect well on you in the eyes of the prosecutor and the judge or jury (if the case goes to trial).

If there is No Warrant

When a case is filed, a judge will issue a warrant of arrest, which a police officer will serve. The police officer may not always wait for the warrant, though. They can come to your house and inform you of the charges. If you are prepared and have spoken to your lawyer, your lawyer will probably tell you to turn yourself in anyway. The police should, however, show you the warrant within a reasonable amount of time. While at the station, avoid speaking with anyone regarding the charges. Wait for your lawyer.

If You Think You're Guilty

Even if you think you're guilty of the charges, when the time comes for you to enter a plea before the judge, you can plead “not guilty.” This will give you and your lawyer time to prepare for the case and challenge the evidence against you. The prosecutor must prove your guilt beyond reasonable doubt, which takes time and hard work.

Criminal charges are nothing to smile about, but they can be beaten. Always discuss everything with your lawyer so they can help you prepare a good defense.

3 Workplace Rights in NZ Not Everyone Knows

As the labour force increases in New Zealand, the unemployment rate rises too. As a matter of fact, more people are jobless in the first three months of 2016 unlike the last quarter of the previous years.

That said, you might consider yourself lucky to have work or even a regular source of income these days. While this holds true, it shouldn’t be a reason to sacrifice some of your rights to get a job. Many people do, however, but they don’t realise it.

As a member of the workforce, you should know your basic employee rights in NZ, such as earning at the least the minimum wage, getting paid time off work and going on sick leave. But you must also know that you can:

Have Bereavement Leave

This is a special kind of leave usable if someone close to you passes away. This only applies if an immediate family member dies, not someone unrelated to you by blood. This right allows you to take a time off for at least three days.

You have to be working for your employer for more than six months to enjoy this right. But if you’re just a casual worker and only works regularly for one employer for six months, you may qualify for paid bereavement leave if you have been working for at least 10 hours per week or 40 hours per month.

Refuse to Work

The law gives you the right to say no to do work that may potentially harm you. If you’re working in the industry where the level of risk is high, like construction, your employer must provide you with the necessary safety equipment and training to ensure you stay out of harm’s way.

Otherwise, you can refuse to perform tasks and they should not take it against you.

Not Suffer from Discrimination

Employment laws protect you against unlawful discrimination on the grounds of race, age, sex, sexual orientation, disability, political opinion, etc. In other words, your employer can’t treat you in a different way.

The lack of job opportunities shouldn’t be a valid reason to swallow your workplace rights. If you feel any of your employee entitlements are not given to properly, seek an experienced attorney immediately.

Setting Up a Pub: Being in Business in Australia

Australians love to go out, eat, have a pint, enjoy a game on the telly, chat with friends, etc. So if you are planning to put together a new business, consider something that’s more in line with the Aussie’s love for leisure.

A pub is a great business. It’s got potential already because there will always be customers ready for a drink or two. The only question is how to set your pub apart from the others. Or, if you’re not really after that, how can you at least make it attractive to customers so you can have a piece of the pie?

Never Skip Sports

Make it a sports bar. Customers always love a game on TV as they enjoy their favourite brew. On one corner of the bar, set a widescreen television to broadcast one sport, and then on another corner, use the TVs to broadcast another sport. That way there’s something for everyone.

Put in a Gaming System

To make your bar a little more desirable, put in cashless gaming systems, experts from INTECQ LIMITED recommend. Of course, you’ll have to find out if this is allowed in your location. Get the necessary permits from the authorities before buying the machines.

 Put a Pool Table

Shooting pool comes with the territory. A pool table should always be present in a bar like yours. Nothing helps people kill time better than a game of pool while enjoying a bottle of suds.

Offer Full Meals

Most pubs would open in the late afternoon or early evening because their clientele is mostly the drinking crowd. You can be open the entire day and on through the night if you offer full meals. Just be sure you have a great cook so your food can help your place be more popular.

Offer Free Wi-Fi

Don’t forget the Wi-Fi. The younger crowd can be lured in if you have free Internet connection. Besides, most people these days like to use their smartphones everywhere. The free Wi-Fi is definitely an attraction.

Do some more research on what else you can add to these suggestions. It doesn’t have to be entirely unique, but your pub should at least be attractive to a particular crowd.

3 Ways to Make Your Home Exterior More Functional

Your front and backyards have the potential to make your home even more beautiful and functional. There are many ways to utilise the extra space you may have. You only need to be imaginative and creative to find ways to improve your home exteriors and make every corner of your lot more interesting and useful. Here are some ideas you can apply.

Vegetation

Growing fruits and vegetables are the best ways to maximise the extra area you have in your backyard. Providing fresh food for the family in the safety of your own home can be a very rewarding experience. If you are looking to buy raised vegetable garden beds you won’t have to bend over when planting, cultivating and harvesting the vegetables, making the experience even more enjoyable. Having a rainwater tank at home is also a good idea. You can collect rainwater and use it in your vegetable garden, an expert from Rainfill Tanks and Curved Roofing Supplies suggests.

Functional Porch

Don’t let your porch become and empty and worthless space; you can easily turn it into something unique and functional. With wooden chairs and tables plus a little bit of decoration, you can have a café-like experience at home. This way, you can hang out on your porch every morning to sip your coffee, breathe in fresh air, read a book or newspaper and bond with your spouse.

Set Up a BBQ

Another great addition to the backyard is an outdoor grilling area. This is a perfect hangout place for casual afternoons or special occasions. Invite your relatives, neighbours, or friends over anytime you like. You can grill meat and vegetable sticks, ribs, and steaks while the kids play outdoor games nearby. Make sure you have comfy seats and a long wooden table to start the BBQ feast for everyone’s delight.

Follow these tips to make your outdoor areas more functional. There are a lot of different things you can do to make this happen, so just let your imagination run wild and reveal to you what you really want to achieve.
